I love a perfect polished mani; and let’s be honest who doesn’t? Nail extension is a style statement in itself. From Kylie Jenner to Katy Perry, all have sported some amazing mani lately. The market has so many kinds and types of nail extension that it is a little overwhelming. But don’t you worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s all you need to know about nail extension. Read on to find out!
Nail Overlay – This method skips the extension step. A strengthening mixture is added to the base of your natural nails. This helps the mani to last long and saves your nail from breaking.
Nail Extensions – A nail extension is a plastic plate that is glued to the tip of your natural nail for added length. This is then sealed with a mixture of acrylic, gel or fiber glass.
Acrylic Extension– It is the oldest form of nail extension. The acrylic itself is a mixture of liquid monomer and a powder polymer, which when combined form a hard protective layer that is sculpted over the natural nail.
Gel extension – A thick gel mixture is applied either on top of the nail extension or on the bed of the natural nail. A very thin layer of gel is applied evenly on the nail, which is then ‘cured’ under UV light. The gel dries up instantly and gives your nail a super glossy affect.
